How to Write a Financial Aid Appeal Letter.
College is a very expensive endeavor, therefore when you have some financial problems; the solution will always be the financial aid appeal. Students become very devastated when the appeal is denied, this changes their ability to afford an education.
This letter is a way of asking the financial aid officer to understand your situation and accept your financial aid appeal letter. A lot of students makes mistake of not being honest and taking responsibilities when writing the letter.
First you should clearly explain your situation. Convince the financial officer to accept your letter. Don’t lie just be honest with your situation, if you are a good student with high grades the better (though you can still be awarded the aid if you have bad grades, it will depend with how you bring out your situation).
Secondly, you have to support your case with evidence. Don’t just state them without any proof. If you are the one responsible for your financial crisis, take responsibilities, don’t blame others and show them how sorry you are.
Below is an example of how the financial aid appeal letter should be written:
Mr. John Owen Financial Aid Administrator 123 College Address
Dear Mr. John:
Thank you for the offer of financial aid for attending 123 College. However my family financial situation has changed since the death of my parents. They were involved in road accident and now I am the one left to take care of my younger siblings.
I have been working two jobs so that I can sustain myself and my younger siblings as I am the only adult left. I would be most grateful if you could grant me financial aid offer in light of this information. Thanks in advance.
Thanks for your attention.
